Did you know that 35% of all heat loss in a typical UK home is through the external walls. Heat will flow to a cooler place. Entire heat loss cannot be stopped but it can be slowed down. By slowing down the loss it means that less energy is needed to replace it; less energy equals lower fuel bills. The way to reduce the heat loss is by installing insulation. The most efficient means and least intrusive way of doing so on an existing house is by installing it externally.

Different insulations have different properties. You may want the best performing insulation or you may want to use sustainable materials. Or, you may want to hit a happy medium.

Whatever you want from EWI here are the decisions we can help you make.....

Firstly, choose your insulation...

EPS - Polystyrene Insulation

Expanded Polystyrene insulation (EPS) traps air to provide an efficient insulating material. EPS is rot proof and will remain effective for the lifetime of the building. It is by far the most cost-effective insulation used in external wall insulation.

Mineral Wool Insulation

Mineral wool traps air to provide its insulating capacity and therefore has a similar thermal performance to polystyrene but is not as thermally efficient. The insulant is resistant to rot and is vermin proof.

Mineral wool has excellent fire performance and has excellent acoustic properties

Wood Fibre Insulation

Wood Fibre boards are a great alternative to EPS. Wood chips and shavings are ground down into a fibrous pulp. This is then binded with water and paraffin, let to dry then shaped. Wood is sustainable. Other features include 'breathability' which helps regulate a buildings moisture content

Bespoke Insulation

You may have a different insulation in mind or would like to discuss an alternative product. This is great!

Silicone Render

Silicone render is breathable and water repellent, which is ideal if you live in an area that gets a lot of rain and needs virtually no maintenance. It's applied in a thin coat which creates a slight vinyl effect or a scraped texture which is chalkier.

Comes in a variety of colours

Roughcast

Roughcast or pebbledash is a coarse plaster surface used on outside walls that consists of lime and sometimes cement mixed with sand, small gravel and often pebbles or shells. The materials are mixed into a slurry and are then thrown at the working surface with a trowel or scoop

Brick Slip

Brick slips are thin sections of real brick cut down and used as a veneer. They come in a variety of types and colours and look very attractive.

They are glued onto a pre-formed board.

A fantastic option for when you have to match with any existing walls

Bespoke

From Carbon absorbing Lime to a sustainable timber cladding we will work with you to achieve your desired look.

If the goal is to match your house like-for-like due to conservation status or planning conditions we can also do that. We'd love to hear more

Oh, Wait! I have pipework on my external walls....

No worries...

Outside taps, soil stacks, boiler flues, sink waste pipes, condensate pipes we've moved, extended or re-routed them all!

Thanks to our extensive background in housebuilding and property renovation we have seen it all. Some installers will shy away from this and say they have to 'insulate up to the pipes'. In some cases, this very well may be the case but this will leave a cold uninsulated spot behind the pipework. We can work within your budget to find the best solution for all pipework.

We can even extended roofs and adjust all your guttering to suit the EWI installation. We'll do everything in our powers to insulate your home without it actually looking like your home has been insulated.
